Ground Breaking at Laurel Hill | |||
The JEB Stuart Birthplace Trust conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Activity Pavilion at Laurel Hill on August 18, 2014. The new Pavilion, located near the entrance, will be 36 ft. x 24 ft, will have a hip roof and open ceiling. It will be used for special activities and events, lectures and receptions. It has been made possible by donations of members and supporters. The contractor selected is Doe Run Builders and grading is being done by Leroy Pack Grading. Both companies are from Ararat, VA. On hand for this event were the following people, left to right: Ronnie Hayes, Vice President, Roger Hayden, Board Member and Dan River District Supervisor, Vladimir Moreno, Wade Bowman and Grant Bowman-Doe Run Builders, Tom Bishop, Board Member, Shirley Keene, President and Cyndi Vipperman, Board Member. On the bulldozer is Leroy Pack. Laurel Hill is located at 1091 Ararat Highway, Ararat, VA and is the birthplace of Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, CSA. | |||
